HOSTAPHAN® polyester films for outdoor applications
Outdoor weather is tough on polymers. In particular, UV radiation triggers degradation that embrittle and discolour plastics within a few years.
Moisture from rainwater or condensation can also damage plastics, especially polycondensation polymers. A reaction of the molecular chain with water cleaves the chain and leads to mechanical degradation.
Warmth influences both mechanisms. And alternating stress by heat and cold accelerates the degradation.
While degradation by weathering cannot be stopped completely, it can be slowed significantly. Our stabilized HOSTAPHAN® find use in many outdoor applications and perform convincingly, both through their durability and the protection they give to materials below them.
