HOSTAPHAN^® polyester films for release applications

In many processes, films are used as carriers that are removed from the final product after processing. Such films are called release films.

HOSTAPHAN^® is particularly suited to release applications, as we can fine tune the separation properties versus other polymers. Mechanical stability, temperature stability and chemical resistance are other important characteristics.

There are three basic types of release films:

1. release films
2. PCR-films
3. siliconized films
4. silicone-free release films

HOSTAPHAN^®release films are used as a carrier in the manufacture of fibre reinforced panels (GRP, GFK). After curing of the embedding resin, the films are removed. Re-use may be possible. The film surface is transferred to the final product and defines its appearance. This can be glossy or matte. Web widths up to 4.20 m are possible.

Our in-line siliconized HOSTAPHAN^®range is used as release liner for self-adhesive labels. Our silicone system is chemically bonded to the polyester surface, minimises back side transfer and provides excellent release properties.

If you would like to avoid silicone in your process, we offer silicone-free release films.

Release films

HOSTAPHAN^® GN 4600 – Glass clear polyester film

HOSTAPHAN^® GN 4600 has a glassy surface and gives the final product a high gloss.

Thickness range in µm: 50 to 250

Available with chemical pre-treatment.

HOSTAPHAN^® RN – Glossy, transparent polyester film

HOSTAPHAN^® RN achieves a glossy surface on the final product.

This film type is approved for food contact in the EU and US.

Thickness range in µm: 6 to 500

Available with chemical pre-treatment.

HOSTAPHAN^® RNK – Very glossy, transparent polyester film

Very glossy surfaces are achieved by using HOSTAPHAN^® RNK

This film is approved for food contact in the EU and US.

Thickness range in µm: 6 to 75

HOSTAPHAN^® RNKS – Highly glossy, transparent polyester film with excellent separating characteristics

We developed HOSTAPHAN^® RNKS especially for use in the manufacture of fibre reinforced panels (GRP, GFK). The film has excellent separating characteristics and gives the final product a shiny surface.

Thickness range in µm: 15, 23

Available with chemical pre-treatment.

HOSTAPHAN^® WDW – White, glossy polyester film

HOSTAPHAN^® WDW is a white film with a glossy surface.

This film is approved for food contact in the EU and US.

Thickness range in µm: 12, 23, 36, 50, 55, 65

Available with chemical pre-treatment.

HOSTAPHAN^® WN – Translucent white polyester film

HOSTAPHAN^® WN is a thick, milky white film with glossy surfaces. It is preferred as a transport and intermediate layer in veneer and furniture presses.

Thickness range in µm: 50, 100, 175, 190, 230, 250, 300, 350

HOSTAPHAN^® MPK – One-side matte polyester film with high transparency

HOSTAPHAN^® MPK distinguishes itself through one matte and one smooth side. HOSTAPHAN^® MPK is approved for food contact in the EU and US.

Thickness range in µm: 12, 50

Available with chemical pre-treatment for adhesion promotion.

HOSTAPHAN^® MK – Highly matte polyester film

This film has two uniform matte surfaces.

HOSTAPHAN^® MK is approved for food contact in the EU and US.

Thickness range in µm: 12, 19, 23, 125, 250

Available with chemical pre-treatment.

HOSTAPHAN^® SPK – Super-matte polyester film

HOSTAPHAN^® SPK is a super-matte polyester film with medium roughness. With this film type highly matte surfaces can be achieved. HOSTAPHAN^® SPK is approved for food contact in the EU and US.

PCR films

HOSTAPHAN^® PCR PR3N 2PRK - Polyester film for easy release liner

HOSTAPHAN^® PCR PR3N 2PRK is a transparent siliconized polyester film for release liner applications.

The PCR content in the base layer of the film is 30%. This film is not food approved.

Thickness range in µm: 19, 23, 30, 36

HOSTAPHAN^® PCR PR3N 2SKL for release liner applications

This siliconized film has a PCR content of 30% and is suitable for release liner applications without direct food contact.

Siliconised films

HOSTAPHAN^® RN 2PRK/RNK 2PRK – Transparent, siliconised polyester film

HOSTAPHAN^® RN 2PRK and HOSTAPHAN^® RNK 2PRK are equipped with a silicone coating on one side. The silicone is very strongly cured, which means that it stays on the films surface and does not transfer to other surfaces. The film is optimized for use as release liner.

HOSTAPHAN^® RN 2SLK/RNK 2SLK - Transparent, siliconised polyester film thin

HOSTAPHAN^® RN 2SLK and HOSTAPHAN^® RNK 2SLK are films with silicone coating on one side. They are suitable for various release liner applications. As our silicone is very highly cured, the silicone does not migrate to other layers that come into contact with it.

Thickness range in µm: 23, 30, 36

HOSTAPHAN^® RN 2SLK - Transparent, siliconised polyester film thick

HOSTAPHAN^® RN 2SLK is a film with silicone coating on one side. It is suitable for various release liner applications. As our silicone is very highly cured, the silicone does not migrate to other layers that come into contact with it.

Thickness range in µm: 75, 125, 250

HOSTAPHAN^® RDIS SI63O – Siliconised polyester film with low release force

This film type is siliconised on one side and has very low release force.

Thickness range in µm: 23, 30, 36

HOSTAPHAN^® RDIS SIF1O – Siliconised polyester film for food contact

This siliconised film is used when food contact approval is needed.

HOSTAPHAN^® RDIS SIF1O is approved for food contact in the EU.

HOSTAPHAN^® RNK SAO – Polyester film for off-line siliconisation

HOSTAPHAN^® RNK SAO is used for off-line siliconisation. The film has been pre-treated on one side to increase adhesion to various silicone systems. Solvent-based and solvent-free silicone coatings as well as emulsion systems of various silicone manufacturers have positive test results with HOSTAPHAN^® RNK SAO.
