During metallization and sputtering, materials such as films or paper are provided with thin, inorganic layers in a high vacuum – for example by metallization or the deposition of SiOx or AlOx layers. These processes are part of physical vapour deposition (PVD) and enable functional coatings with specific properties.
Such layers are particularly crucial in the packaging sector: they reliably protect the contents from external influences such as oxygen, moisture and light while simultaneously preserving flavours inside.
Our coated HOSTAPHAN™ films offer excellent barrier properties and are typically used in triplex laminates – ideal for demanding applications in the food and industrial sectors.
